RTEC Treecare works from 2828 Mary St in Merrifield, about five miles from the Ballston and Clarendon corridors and roughly a twelve minute drive along Wilson Boulevard. Arlington sits just across the line from our home turf, well inside the area we cover.

The jurisdiction point is the one Arlington residents most often get wrong. Because Arlington governs itself, it is not covered by Fairfax County's mosquito program. Arlington's own approach is limited: the county removes standing water from parks, playgrounds and school grounds, and it tracks West Nile virus, which was first detected here in 2000 and is carried by Culex mosquitoes rather than the daytime biter. What Arlington County does not do is treat private property. Nobody from the county is coming to spray your yard.
Density makes the rest of it specific to Arlington. Because the Asian tiger mosquito barely travels from where it hatches, a treated yard gets re-seeded quickly by a neighbor's untreated one just feet away. On a rowhouse block or an apartment-adjacent lot, the standing water two doors down is genuinely your problem. It also means treatment has to be precise.
